The Horizon City Police Department is proud to offer a dedicated Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) specially trained to respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Our mission is to promote safety, empathy, and understanding through specialized de-escalation techniques and community-based support strategies.
The CIT program is designed to bridge the gap between law enforcement and mental health services. Our officers receive advanced training in recognizing signs of mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental disabilities, and other behavioral health conditions. We respond to calls with care, aiming to reduce the need for use of force and increase positive outcomes.
Horizon City is a fast-growing community in El Paso County, with a population of over 24,000 residents, including families, veterans, and a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Our team is committed to respecting the diverse needs of our community, especially in times of personal crisis.
