It is a criminal offense for any person to cause you any physical injury or harm, even if that person is your spouse, former spouse, member of your household, former member of your household, of anyone related to you.

Important Information

Domestic violence trauma can keep a person from leaving a relationship or seeking help. This information is provided to inform you of available options in order to prevent violence in your relationship. You are encouraged to contact any of the agencies listed below which are here to assist you.

Please tell the investigating officer:

  • If you, your child, or any other household resident has been injured or threatened. 
  • If you feel you're going to be in danger now or after the officer leaves.  

You have the right to:

Request prosecution of the abuser by informing the investigating officer or contacting the Investigation Section located at the Horizon City Police Department Headquarters located at 14999 Darrington Rd., Horizon City, TX 79928, 915-852-1047.


Request a district attorney, county attorney, or city prosecutor to file a criminal complaint against the person committing family violence. Apply to the court for an order to protect you (consult a legal aid office, a prosecuting attorney, or private attorney.)  For example, the court can order that: 


  1. The abuser not commit any acts of violence. 
  2. The abuser not threaten, harass, or contact you at home or your work. 
  3. The abuser leave your household, and 
  4. Establish temporary custody of the children and directs the abuser not to interfere with children or any property.
